Romero de Ávila Salcedo

The Flagship

Romero de Ávila Salcedo is our emblem; our brand and our family name; a tribute to the centuries of history of our family of winemakers.

A coat of arms from 1598, which is still preserved in the cellar, bears witness to the long history of our family in the winemaking tradition. The passion and respect led us to honour this knowledge that has been guiding our family for so long.

A perfect blend of five grape varieties that honour the know-how passed down for generations.

In this blend, the Tempranillo grape provides fruity and aromatic notes; Syrah gives power and smoothness; Cabernet Sauvignon, structure and pleasant acidity; Merlot, softness and elegance; and Petit Verdot, power and corpulence.

The different grapes are vinified separately, seeking to fully express the climatological characteristics that surround them. The fermentations are carried out in amphoras and then aged for twelve months. The wines are then aged in 225 litre French and American oak barrels for fifteen months. The wine remains for two more years in the bottle before going on the market.

From the origin, every detail of the process, from vinification to ageing is carried out in artisanal fashion with meticulous care, thus making each bottle a small work of art.

Tasting notes

Romero de Ávila Salcedo is exceptional with a captivating nose full of ripe fruit aromas of raspberry, black currant, blackberry, and dark chocolate alongside floral hints. Aging in oak barrels adds perfumed spice notes such as vanilla, cedar, and clove… and supports the lush fruit while showcasing the depth, and balance of this extraordinary red coupage.

The first sip offers richly textured flavors of red fruit and currant compote moving into a structured mid-palate of sweet tobacco and juicy plum. The mouthwatering palate is silky with a line of vibrant acidity while also seamlessly integrating with the full-bodied texture and crafting a wine that is elegant, and plentiful.

Service Temperature

Serve between 16 ° C and 18 ° C. Due to its long aging in the barrel, we recommend decanting before drinking.

Pairing recommendation

Perfect to pair with traditional dishes, especially grilled red meats and aged cheeses.
